Upon surfacing, the players enter the castle, and the series’ staple mechanic—the separation—occurs. One player is trapped outside the cell block, while the other is imprisoned within. This is the first major test of asymmetric problem-solving. The free player has a vantage point to see the locking mechanisms, while the trapped player has access to the local controls.
