Abstract This paper describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of MagCard Write/Read Utility Program v2017, a cross-platform command-line tool for interacting with magnetic stripe card readers/writers. The utility provides reliable low-level access to magnetic stripe tracks, supports common encoding formats, implements data integrity checks, and offers scripting-friendly features for batch processing. We discuss architecture, protocol handling, encoding/decoding algorithms, error handling, security considerations, test methodology, and performance results.
